Production process for crafts in CLAY.
Life for the residents' of San Juan Oriente here in Nicaragua; rotates around the combination of the family activities and artistic works made of clay.
* The clay is milled to be strained with fine "mayas", to eliminate stones that later on damage the fineness of the craft, to this powder is added beach sand and it dilutes to than be beaten by the artisans' hands and to obtain a consistent mass.
* The clay converted into mass passes to the hands of the turner who finishes kneading it to give it forms.
* Subsequently, the piece is left outdoors for an hour and than is returned to the lathe to give form to the base and its waxed in layers with intervals of half hour each, until arriving at seven stops later on to stay in a plastic bag for three day for its drying.
