Know of the daily life of the artisans that elaborate beautiful crafts of excellent quality.
Mrs. Argentina del Carmen Gutiérrez is 35 years old and has 15 years of elaborating crafts in clay. Her husband and her sister-in-laws taught her how to elaborate crafts in clay. And that is how they began the small micro-company, with which they count with at the moment. Besides being the boss of a family of 5 she has to manage them to organize the activities of the home and to manage the small shop. She is in charge of the design of the ceramic piece, drawn of the piece, burnt of the pieces and also she takes charge of the commercialization of the products. Mrs. Argentina tells us that for the before mentioned, she has to get up every day at 5 in the morning, to prepare food for her children that go to school. Afterwards she prepares to begin the activities of the company: buying the raw materials, if some of them have ended (clay, firewood, colors among other), to continue the process of production of an order or to begin a new one, another of the activities is the search of workers to subcontract them when she has a big order, so she can be able to fulfill the order for the client. Since she is separated from her husband she works hard to get her children of 17 and 16 through school.
Mrs. Argentina is beneficiary of the Program of Support to the small and micro enterprises from Nitlapán – UCA. She receives managerial trainings, consultant ships and export part of craft that takes place through the Comercializadora "The Güegüense". However some of their dreams are: "To end up maintaining a level of stable production throughout the whole year", I would like that the comercializadora carries out the order mainly in the months of little demand May, June, July, August, September, October and November, although the last three improve a little bit."
Another dream of Mrs. Argentina is to be able to improve the infrastructure of her shop. She tells us that with the three orders elaborated and exported for Utah and Seattle through the Comercializadora The Güegüense, she bought a torneta (similar to the lathe but with small dimensions, it is used in table) the one that helps to speed up the work and to improve the quality of the products.
